Save the Waterberg Rhino was started in November 2012 in association with the Waterberg biosphere and We had one mission;  to help raise awareness and support for the war against rhino poaching. Save the Waterberg Rhino enjoys a close working relationship with many recognised role players, their opinion and experience proving invaluable when identifying projects and allocating funds.

The charismatic Southern Ground-Hornbill (Bucorvus leadbeateri) is a bird that many people already know well. They are culturally important as the ‘thunder' or 'rain’ birds and are a flagship species for the savannah biome (along with cheetah, white rhino and several vulture species).

As wildlife carers our main aim is to diagnose, treat, assess and return our native birds of prey back into the wild as quickly as possible. The length of time a bird remains in captivity is determined by the severity of the injury and the amount of rehabilitation required for this bird to return to it original health.
