Chris is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and has a post-graduate qualification in Company Law. He has a wealth of business experience and is the Executive Chairman of various high profile industrial companies. Chris established Rotavi Private Game Reserve in 2005 after selling his previous farm in the Springbok Flats.
Chris is passionate about the Rooiberg Bewaria area as he regards it as a tranquil sanctuary for its wide-ranging fauna and flora, and a privilege for all the people who inhabit it. Chris, together with neighbouring farms, founded and managed the Rhenoster, Fire, Conservation and Security Association (FCSA) in 2008 which principally included the establishment of highly successful boomed and manned monitoring / filter points. The FCSA was subsequently incorporated into Rooiberg Bewaria in 2015, during which year Chris joined as an Exco Member. Chris is also an avid rotor wing pilot.

After qualifying as a chartered accountant in South Africa in the mid 1980’s, Rudolf joined Rand Merchant Bank in 1988, and established Treacle Private Equity in 2000 with two partners. Rudolf relocated to Mauritius in 2010 where he is involved in advising international corporates and private equity funds on their investment activities in sub-Sahara Africa.

Rudolf acquired land in the Rooiberg area in late 1999, and was involved in the establishment of Elandsberg Nature Reserve lying north east of Rooiberg with nine neighbouring landowners in 2006. Elandsberg Nature Reserve today comprises of 12 000 hectares, and is a big supporter and beneficiary of the activities of the Rooiberg Bewaria.

Dr Anton De Swardt is qualified with BCom Law LLB LLD degrees practising as an attorney in Brooklyn Pretoria and is primary involved in constitutional public administrative and commercial law litigation in different divisions of the High Court of South Africa.
Anton has been farming in the Rooiberg Bewaria area since 2000 and during 2008 he and his wife Sally commenced breeding rare game such as disease-free buffalo, sable antelope, nyala, heart water springbok as well as other plains game including kudu.
They consider their Pretoria home as the weekly “koshuis “residence and spend weekends on the farm where Anton cultivates his deep affection for nature’s fauna and flora. Anton is also qualified as a helicopter pilot who finds the combination of flying with game farming very effective.

Dr André Uys (BSc;BVSc;MSc- UP) is a veterinarian by profession and has been involved in protected area management and eco-tourism development for the past 15 years. He serves on the Boards of Rooiberg Bewaria and the Waterberg Landscape Alliance and has a passion for rhino, elephant and all things conservation.
Over and above protected area management, his experience includes the successful reintroduction of both white & black rhino as well as elephant, amongst other species, into several range states across Africa where they were either locally extinct or near extinct and the restocking of numerous Big 5 reserves in South Africa.

Jody is an entrepreneur, landowner, and conservationist dedicated to sustainable rural development in the Waterberg region. He has built a successful game and livestock farm offering ethical hunting, exotic breeding, and astrotourism experiences. His achievements include securing partnerships with SARAO and DarkSky International and launching community-driven employment and skills training initiatives.​
​
Jody plays an active leadership role in Rooiberg Bewaria, driving collaboration between landowners, coordinating regional security strategies, and supporting fundraising to protect the area’s biodiversity and rural economy.
​
He is passionate about conservation, astronomy, and empowering local communities. His hobbies include stargazing, wildlife tracking, off-road motorcycling, and developing innovative tourism concepts that align with ecological responsibility. Jody’s work reflects a hands-on, solutions-driven approach grounded in vision, integrity, and deep respect for the land.
