Some exciting news….
The Defender Awards is a new programme designed to further extend LandRover Defender's support of humanitarian and conservation organisations around the world. The brand has worked hand in hand with global partners The Red Cross and Tusk for decades, supporting their tireless work at a global level. This programme will enable Defender to support more, smaller organisations that are embracing the impossible every day.
The DEFENDER AWARDS is a worldwide event, sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover where contestants have to motivate why their cause should receive support. There are only 8 worldwide recipients and that, thanks to the wonderful work done by Andy Fraser and André Uys with Land Rover over the past year, Rooiberg Bevaria was asked to submit an entry for this prestigious award.
This was done during May of this year in the form of a 4-page on-line motivation detailing exactly who we are, what we do and how we plan to use the prize money, if we win!
A few weeks ago, we were notified by LandRover that we had successfully progressed through the first 3 pre-screening rounds and have been selected to go into the next round for which a 90 second video was a requirement.
Bearing in mind that the winner stands to receive 100,000 pounds sterling over 2 years and the use of a Defender over this period, Exco agreed that it would be appropriate to get a proper video produced and really try our best to win this thing.
We employed a professional videographer and over the course of two days, we travelled over 600km and accumulated over 5hrs of footage.
